Family Talks: Martha and Julius Pagener – loss and reconstruction of a private collection

When Martha and Julius Pagener fled from Cologne to Palestine, their household goods and art collection were auctioned off. For decades, the family kept a suitcase full of records documenting their persecution and efforts to get re-compensation. Based on these documents, the Coordination Office for Provenance Research in North-Rhine Westphalia (KPF.NRW) researched the family history and tried to identify and locate the lost belongings. Miriam Cockx (KPF.NRW project leader), Alize Nowack (researcher) and descendant Lea Petermann will talk about the project and the relevance it has for the family.

Das Bildungsportal NS-Zwangsarbeit: ein digitales Kooperationsprojekt

13 Millionen Menschen mussten in der NS-Gesellschaft Zwangsarbeit leisten – viele verschiedene Lebenswege und Erfahrungen, an die heute in Gedenkstätten und Dokumentationszentren in ganz Deutschland erinnert wird. Doch wie kann eine digitale Erinnerung funktionieren, die das Thema übergreifend erläutert – wie ein Transfer der Angebote in die Schulen gelingen? Daniela Geppert vom Dokumentationszentrum NS-Zwangsarbeit in Berlin stellt die Möglichkeiten vor, die das Portal dafür bietet.
