The scope of the photographic collections at the Museum Ludwig ranges from the beginnings of photography to the end of the 20th century, including unique incunabula from the 19th century, the most important artistic photographs, but also extensive images and material dealing with the cultural history of this medium. All the collections complement one another perfectly to form a collection of European standing.
The photographic collections are not on permanent display but are regularly made available to the public in special exhibitions.
