Through a unique initiative unparallel elsewhere in Germany, that embraces the whole of the city, a total of nine partners have mounted regular presentations at the cinema in Museum Ludwig since January 2006. As founder members of the Filmforum, everything from film promoters and producers to film makers, curators and cineastes have joined forces in this collaboration. Included are the Filmstiftung NRW, the SK Stiftung Kultur, the Westdeutsche Rundfunk (WDR), the ifs internationale filmschule köln, the film & fernseh produzentenverband nrw e.v., KölnMusik GmbH, the free film scene association "KinoAktiv", and Museum Ludwig/City of Cologne. Numerous themed film series, film festivals and premieres as well as talks and discussions have now found a venue at the Filmforum. Each event is the responsibility of the partner concerned, both financially and regards content. But together the members have succeeded in establishing the Filmforum as a home for film history and contemporary film culture and filled a gap in the cinema landscape in Cologne.
