Support from the State of North-Rhine Westphalia

The word Regionale has been chosen to describe a structural programme initiated by the state of North-Rhine Westphalia. Every two years the scheme offers a specific region the opportunity to present itself. The focus of the 2010 round is on the Cologne - Bonn region and once again, on acting as an instrument of structural policy to shape the area's future. The Archaeological Zone/Jewish Museum is a key component of the core project in the urban planning, division, this running under the heading of ‘Urban development either side of the Rhine_Cologne' and also comprising the modules ‘Rhine Boulevard' and ‘Ottoplatz/ Perspectives lfor the right bank of the Rhine'.

2010 - Year of the Regionale

Due to the great diversity and abundance of the Regionale 2010 projects in the Cologne - Bonn area, the presentation of the programme with its motto ‘Rhenish World Exhibition' began in March 2010 and will extend to the Long Day of the Region event in mid-2011 (21 June). However, this finite time-frame does not imply the termination of the joint cooperation and project work. Rather, it is a great opportunity to present the innovative approaches of the project, in, for the most part, utterly unique contributions, as a form of intermediate result to the citizens of the region, to visitors, to a professional public and to crucial decision makers. So, too, the Archaeological Zone/Jewish Museum is a player at the ‘Rhenish World Exhibition' with attractive events and activities that focus on the start of the construction works and the ongoing excavations.
