Fastening of the curtain

The underdrawing envisaged, for the hanging of the curtain decorated with pressbrokat a fastening by means of cloth loops on rings which in their turn ran along a thick rod. The intervals between the rings match the folds in the curtain. The version as painted, by contrast, seems generally more delicate. Here the cloth is fastened by means of crossing ribbons with a correspondingly larger number of rings on a thinner rod. The painted check border of the curtain seems to have no counterpart in the underdrawing.
