Leg and foot postures on the far left

The minimal and sketchy drawing of the warriors in the background explains the numerous corrections which extend beyond the underdrawing into the painting process. This is particularly apparent in the total of six foot shapes visible in the infrared reflectogram between the parted legs of the warrior at the left-hand edge of the picture (see red mapping lines). They were there not only in the drawing, but also in some cases in the painting, but in the end all but one were covered over with the green paint used for the grass.
